Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS3 max LED fog pod lights. Now these three inch LED fog pod lights are gonna give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. The amber back light that you see here on this light is going to give you a stylish touch for more visibility when you're not using your main beam. And as you can see, I've had this connected to my power already and this does feature currently this amber backlight, which is one of my favorite features here. And let me go ahead and turn my studio lights off just to give you a better demonstration of what this is going to look like in low light or dark conditions.
And you see what that looks like there from a distance. But I'm gonna go ahead and activate the fog beam there. And as you can see, that's significantly brighter and that fog pattern is going to give you high intensity light with in an extremely wide field of view. So I'm shining that on the wall behind me just so you can see that beam. These lights have a color temperature of 3,000 Kelvin yellow, so that's gonna be great for bad weather like rain or fog.
So again, that's the main fog beam, and then that's going to be the amber backlight. And then that beam again, let me go ahead and turn my studio lights back on. And I wanna show you what that beam is going to look like on the wall behind me, even with my studio lights on, just so you can see just how bright that is. So very bright lights, I think it's gonna be very effective. And these do have a raw lumen rating of 7,920 lumens, and then a measured lumen rating of 3,500 lumens.
And that peak beam intensity is 12,500 candela. Now, in case you don't know, candela ratings measure the directional light output and how it's, and it is how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. But for a more detailed description of this rating, you can visit this product page here at etrailer.com or Diode Dynamics provides additional information that you can find. The power draw on the main beam is going to be three amps and the backlight 0.03 amps.
Now these lights are designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. Unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't great at focusing all of the light where you want it, this custom designed large TIR optic actually collects and focuses all of the light forward very efficiently. And from there, instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into the surface of the lens. So this is going to prevent the normal efficiency loss you see with an outside lens. As you probably know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're going to lose up to 10% of that light just from it shining through. So by making it as part of this lens, you pick up some efficiency there. This does include the industry standard integrated Deutsche style connector. And this also has a breather valve. Let me show you this on this slide here. This has a breather patch or a breather valve here on the back that's going to prevent any moisture buildup. And as you can see, these do have heat sinks here on the back of the housing. And that's gonna do, these heat sinks are gonna do a great job of dissipating that heat quickly to increase the longevity of these lights. Now this light has been built, both of these lights rather have been built with high intensity LED chips and they feature a durable powder coated aluminum construction. And this heavy duty construction is going to withstand extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration and testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components. Now, Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled these lights right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. And just to give you an overall dimensions of these lights, again, these are 3/8, 3 inch rather, lights, pod lights, but measuring end to end on the width, we're sitting right at about 3 1/4 inches. And that's going to be the same for the height, 3 1/4 inches. And then the depth from the end of our heat sinks all the way to the front of our light. We're sitting at about 2 3/8 inches deep. Now these lights, as I'm sure you can imagine, draw high current they do require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you wanna be sure that you're using wiring that's 16 gauge or larger for safe operation. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
